Golden Gate Park, Music Concourse

Today's outing with the North Bay Plein Air Painters at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. It was nice to chat with the regulars and some new faces in the group. It was quite foggy to say the least, but I am glad there was still some fall color to contrast the winter grey. To give my painting a more spontaneous feel, I alternated between palette knife and brush. Overall, I like the effect and think I'll try to keep integrating the palette knife into my future paintings for now.

Inspiration Point, Presidio

When I woke up this morning, I was excited to see that it was actually clear and sunny in the city. Got my painting gear and headed to the coast. But I get there and, of course, the fog is there to greet me and tell me to find some place else to paint. So I ended up plein air painting in the Presidio at Inspiration point near the Arguello St. gate. After the first one, I had some time to spare so I painted a smaller color sketch in about 35 minutes.

Point Lobos, SF

Thursday's painting at Point Lobos, San Francisco. It was a very, very breezy day with big wind swells crashing on the rocks which I found very challenging to paint. I did my best to simplify the water shapes and give it some sort of design.

Figure Drawings 99 -09

Hooray! Finally, after a few months of aggregation, design, revisions and corrections, I have a self published book of selected figure drawings over the last decade from 1999-2009. All the drawings are in chronological order, demonstrating my evolution from academic studies to my current interpretation of the human figure in a contemporary environment. To preview and purchase the book, please click Here. The book is available in softcover for $29.95 and hardcover for $42.95, not including tax and shipping.

To my family and friends: If you live in the Bay Area and want to save a little on tax and shipping, then let me know if you want a copy. I can place a large order and just give it to you the next time I see you.
