Fort Cronkhite

Today's plein air painting on the beach at Fort Cronkhite in the Marin Headlands with few friends. After painting we headed back into the city for some inspiration from the pastel landscapes of Bill Cone at Studio Gallery in San Francisco.

A Man Made Waterfall

My son fell asleep on the drive home after lunch so I decided to take the opportunity and paint a gouache study of the man made water fall at Stowe Lake in Golden Gate Park.

SketchCrawl 22

SketchCrawl number 22 in San Francisco's Chinatown. It was a nice day to be out inhaling smokey air- I forgot how much old men love to smoke in Chinatown. Everywhere I sat down it seemed that I was covered in smoke. I was glad to see some familiar faces and meet some new one too.

3 Gouache Figure

Monday night's figure drawing workshop, the model is Merav. These three gouache studies are from the long poses of the session, each one is 20 minutes. Once at home I decided to work on each one for a few more minutes to add in some details from memory. These are painted with a limited palette of raw sienna, alizarin crimson, black & white.
