Breezy @ the Coast

Today's painting at Fort Miley in SF. A nice clear sunny day but very breezy at the coast.

"That's good, That's sick"

Spring is here and thought it would be a nice idea to paint the blooming flowers of March. This cherry blossom tree is across the buffalo paddock in Golden Gate Park. I set up my easel a few yards from the road with my back and canvas facing the street. People driving by could easily see me painting from the street. I got a complement today, someone driving by and yelling out "that's good, that's sick". Thank you whoever you are.

Stowe Lake Drive

Yesterday's painting on Stowe Lake Drive, the south west corner of this man made lake in Golden Gate Park. I didn't have enough time to scout out a decent location and was running out of time so I settled for this tree. About a hour of painting.

A Hour in the Park

Today's outing in Golden Gate Park, unfortunately I only had an hour for painting.

Lake Chabot

Today's paint out was in conjunction with the California Art Club held at Lake Chabot in Castro valley. A gorgeous dry day to paint in the Bay Area and meet some fellow plein air painters. It was nice meeting you all and thank you for the cookies.

For painting number two I decided to walk up the trail that goes around the lake. Unfortunately it took longer than I had anticipated to find a location to set up and paint. This left me an hour to paint this study. Since I knew time was short it forced me to plan ahead and constantly move around the canvas more.

Painting @ SJSU

Figure painting at San Jose State University with the Shrunken Head Man club. A three hour pose in oils.

After the figure painting session I didn't want to wait in traffic, so I decided to kill some time. I drove up to the top of the 7th street garage and paint a quick gouache study of clouds as the sun was setting.
