Saturdays figure painting of Jean at the Riley Street art store basement in San Rafael. Hopefully this will become a regular open workshop, maybe every 2 or 3 weeks. This is about three hours of oil painting on gessoed watercolor paper. The way the lighting and warm colors came out remind me of the 50's illustrations of the legendary Andrew Loomis.

Mondays Figure Drawing
Figure drawings from last night's session at Riley Street art store. Here's are a few 5, 20, and 35 minute poses. For the 35 minute drawing I ran out of time to add highlights with a white chalk pencil, so when I got home I add some.
These drawings are done with Polychromos color pencils made by Faber-Castell. It's like a prismacolor pencil but the wax is a harder compound and I can press down quite hard without breaking the tip.

Sweat Box
Two paintings from Sunday's drawing marathon hosted by the Bay Area Model Guild at Merritt College in Oakland. It was a hot day all around the Bay Area outside and inside the art building which was a sweat box for me. Both paintings are about a three hours pose. The first model is Otenio, the second model is Sydney.

Metamorphica Part 2
Metamorphica part 2.
I feel privileged to have taken part in this event with 25 other artist. The models were Butoh style dancers headed by Bad Unkl Sista dressed in unique designer costumes and white body paint. There was even a DJ spinning music as we drew and painted. To see photos and other artwork from participating artist check out the Bus Stop Gallery. Thank you for having this event I hope to make it to the next one.
Here are some of the other gouache studies I did that night. I re-worked on the third one a little more once I got home.
